Obituary for Lawrence Geer

Lawrence  Geer
Lawrence F. Geer, age 93, of Eldred Twp., PA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Lawrence was born on January 12, 1924, to the late Frank and Sarah (Dinger) Geer, in Eldred Township, PA. On April 27, 1946, Lawrence married Dessie M. (Allshouse) Geer in Miola, PA. They have worked side by side in loving companionship for over 71 years as Dessie survives him. He served his country proudly as a soldier in the United States Army during WWII. Lawrence was a well tender for National Fuel for 37 years. He was an active member of the Zion United Methodist Church, which is located just north of Brookville, PA. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Brookville VFW, and a member of the Redlick Hunting Club. As a child, he attended the Oaks School House in Eldred Twp. He will be missed dearly. In addition to his wife, Lawrence is survived by 1 son; Lawson “Larry” (Linda Lou) Geer; 1 daughter; Dorie (the late Thomas E.) Faudie; 1 son-in-law; Dennis Zimmerman; 4 sisters; Betty, Flossie, Jewel, Hazel; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 daughter; Patty Zimmerman; and 6 siblings. Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A second opportunity for viewing will take place on Saturday, December 30, 2017, also at the funeral home, from 9 – 11am. The funeral service will immediately follow the second viewing, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Pastor Dale Livermore. Interment will take place at St. John’s (Windy Hill) Cemetery, in Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Zion United Methodist Church, 1778 Route 36, Brookville, PA, 15825.
