Having been an Iowa high-school mate of Janis Cook back in the mid-1950s & a close friend of her husband, Dalph Cook, here in Pennsylvania for over 50 years -- until the latter's passing in 2012 -- words seem so inadequate to express my condolences and sense of loss in Janis's departure. Always with a smile on her face from her youth up plus always ready with words of encouragement, loyalty and offers of help -- qualities that are rare blessings and an impossibility to replace. We, my wife, Eleanor, and I, extend condolences to all of "Jan's" survivors and sincere hopes that each one will recover quickly from her departure. Sincerely, Bruce & Ellie Mellring of Guys Mills, PA

Deepest sympathy to the family. We always enjoyed hearing from Janis every Christmas. Mark and I have fond memories visiting with her and Dalph when we would stop by when passing through their area. Mark always speaks so highly of Dalph and the impact he had on his life and the memories of hunting there at the Cook farm. They both are sadly missed. Mark and Lorrie Stanton
