Wendell Edward Shaffer

Wendell Edward Shaffer, 88, of Falls Creek, PA, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by family at his home. He was born on November 27, 1935, to the late Ralph and Jenny Francis (Hunter) Shaffer in Falls Creek. Wendell married the love of his life, Martha Kathryn Burkhouse, on November 25, 1960, in Falls Creek, they spent the last sixty three years cherishing each other and working together to successfully create a loving family and home. Martha survives him. Wendell worked in road construction and was employed by Collins Nolder Asphalt, he was also a road foreman for Washington Township. Wendell retired from Glenn O. Hawbakers in 1998. Wendell was Presbyterian by faith. He was a simple man who enjoyed things like gardening, cutting firewood, and working on old tractors. Wendell will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Wendell is survived by two children; Bradley W. (Lisa) Shaffer; Penny A. (Dean) Smith; and three siblings; Barbara Smith; Diane Bell; and Robert Shaffer. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in passing by three sisters; Mabel Tudor; Irene Raybuck; and Louise Crawford. Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
